This cycle of conferences retrieves the literal sense of the word "invention": the "discovery" following a search; the search of an idea of Spain, in the difficult transition from the Old Regime to the liberal society. The proposal of a Spain that is going rediscovering with modernity is reflected in the work of five authors, whose lives and beliefs individuals were the starting point of a quest to improve the collective existence. All of them are related to the tradition institucionista, since the claimed as precursors (Jovellanos, Larra) to the heirs, in the Spain of the exile. This program gives continuity to the practice and enjoyment of reading, as the Institución Libre de Enseñanza has been promoting since its foundation.
