The Sorolla Museum, the state museum of the Ministerio de Cultura y Deporte, organizes a colloquium of the closing of the summer schedule of the Centenary Sorolla, in the framework of the temporary exhibition ‘In the sea of Sorolla with Manuel Vicent’, in collaboration with the Institución Libre de Enseñanza.
The meeting will be developed through a conversation between the writer Manuel Vicent and the director of the museum, Enrique Varela Agüí. In line with the exhibition project, other topics will be discussed, such as the writer's life experience, his literature and his vision of the art of Joaquín Sorolla and the painting of the Mediterranean, among others.
The Institución Libre de Enseñanza will host this event in the auditorium with capacity for over 200 people. Also, it will be transmitted in streaming in through its Youtube channel so that viewers can follow the conversation online.
The exhibition ‘In the sea of Sorolla with Manuel Vicent’, which will end next Sunday, 17 September, is expected to reach 140,000 visitors, a public that in addition to reaching out to know the museum is submerged in the sea of Sorolla, brought to new life through the literary story and the experience of the writer in Valencia.

In addition to curating the exhibition, the Valencian writer presents an unpublished literary creation on the occasion of the exhibition. Compared to the usual scientific catalogue, the uniqueness of this project has led Vicent to create an original literary work, with the content of the narrative of the exhibition developed that intersects with Sorolla's paintings. The book has been published by Fundación Museo Sorolla, and the Palaces and Museums Editions.
