Complementary activities: the new education

The ILE organised, in the framework of the exhibition «Laboratories of new education. In the Centenary of House-School», a period of conferences and rounded tables under the general title of «The new education» whose first sessions took place on the days of the 25th of November and December the 10th, 2019, with the main speeches, respectively, from Michael Fullan. («Politics of innovative education»)and David Istance («Overview of innovation»)

The period, coordinated by Mariano Fernández Enguita (Profesor of sociology at Universidad Complutense de Madrid), looked to address innovation which education needed to face up to in Spain in order to counter the demands which our society addresses and highlight different viewpoints from those which the problem presents.

In the first session, celebrated on the 25th of November, which relied on a large attendance from the public, they particpated, as well as Michael Fullan previously mentioned, Beatriz Pont (analyst of the OCDE, and author of educative politics in perspective of 2015: To make possible alterations, Eduard Vallory (director of Escola Nova 21 and president of the Centro UNESCO de Cataluña) and Mariano Fernández Enguita (UCM), who acted as moderator of the act. Throughout the debate, the experts agreed about the urgent need to carry out educative innovation politics which improves the creative and critical abilities of students, on line with the institutionalist orinetation

The second session took place on Tuesday the 10th of December, which awakened the interest of many attendees, the conference from the expert in innovative education, David Instance, continued with a rounded table which had the participation of Xavier Martínez Celorrio, profesor of Sociología of Educación at Universidad de Barcelona (author of Innovation and restructuting of education in Spain and consultant of the department of education and professional training), Alfredo Hernando Calvo (teacher and author of Viaje a la escuela from XXI century and innovative schools and creative families), and Mariano Fernández Enguita, who went back to work as a moderator during the debate.
