When in much of the world is a growing concern by authoritarianism, tolerance and defense of the freedoms become claimed with force as fundamental principles of democratic systems. The present seminar, gives continuity to the held in 2021 under the title "liberal Democracy / digital democracy. Democracy and its current transformations" and is part of the line of work, "Democracy and Tolerance" that develops the ILE in collaboration with the Residencia de Estudiantes. This is to clarify how this has been reclaiming this concept, with the emphasis on the values on which rests the culture of freedom. A few values that match those promoted by the ILE from its foundation, to promote personal autonomy, tolerance, critical spirit, and a look cosmopolitan, open to the international solidarity. Reflect on these issues seems especially timely given the different crises that affect the societies of our time.
