The Institución Libre de Enseñanza started in 2019 a line of research dedicated to studying the legacy of the German philosopher Karl Christian Friedrich Krause (Eisenberg, 1781 – Munich, 1832), and its influence in Europe and America, especially in Spain. The krausist Spanish, led successively by Julián Sanz del Río and Francisco Giner, built between 1860 and 1936, on the basis of proposals of Krause, a project to promote the modernization of Spain in multiple areas. Among them, some of overt force, as the search for world peace, self-government as the basis of a new education of active citizens, to female empowerment, the defense of the rule of law or the protection of our natural environment, to Krause, belongs especially to the generations to come.
The seminar "Krausism and democracy" will give continuity to those held in the universities of Tübingen (2021), and Cambridge (2019), and will continue this work of recovery and dissemination of thought krausista in key areas for the construction of democratic societies.
