Bertolt Brecht and Carola Neher –glorious German actress of the 1920s and 1930s– are the alpha and the omega of A night with Carola Neher; and, to the space in the middle between these two points, another unfolding of the dream that Jorge Semprún outlined in The return of Carola Neher. All idea of hierarchy disappears, to the point that the Author becomes a character and sees his power challenged by rebellion and hope. A dream the voice of Zarah Leander appears, of course, but in which unexpected things happen. So much so that the characters are integrated into the drama in quite a different way. Blum and Goethe have something of a Godotian character, the Survivor experiences the terrible fear of not existing, the Young Muslim goes from minor figure to serious elf, pulling the strings in all the scenes, and in the end, the work takes as its center, not to the Carola Neher-nocturnal glow of the Semprunian piece, but the WOMAN OF the THEATRE, Carolina Henschke.

With dramaturgy of Scheherezade Pinilla Glens and direction by Iñigo Santacana, the staging features the work of assistant director of Mar P. Soler, and a great cast of actors: Steven Abonia (Muslim boy), Jaime Cano (Léon Blum), José Luis Massó Guirao (the Author), Andrea M. Santos (Comedian), Antonio Ponce (Survivor), Jaime Soler Huete (Goethe) and Estrella Alonso (Spectator, 1).

It takes just over an hour to turn time into a dream.
