The aim of the JAE was to establish a flow of communication with the more advanced countries, sending professionals abroad to develop and promote the creation of new scientific and educational institutions in Spain. Between 1907 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and 1936 more than three thousand scholarships were granted to Spanish graduates who travelled to prepare in the best centers of the world, and brought on their return new methods, practices, and technologies, but, above all, a new spirit.
